Beauty & Product Photography for Vanity Group
For this shoot with Vanity Group, we photographed a selection of their beauty, body care and hotel amenity products.
The brief was fairly simple — create a strong set of images that showed the products beautifully, while giving us enough variety to work across different brands, products and platforms.
We wanted the images to feel clean and elevated, but not too polished or clinical.
A lot of the shoot came down to colour, light and texture.
We played with water, natural surfaces and different backgrounds to give each product its own feel. Some setups were stripped back and focused purely on the packaging, while others were a little more playful and atmospheric.

Working With the Products
With beauty photography, the packaging is obviously important, but it’s not always the most interesting part of the image.
We wanted to create photographs that made you notice the product first, but then gave you a bit more to look at.
The green Voya bottles against the water were a good example of this.
The colour worked naturally with the water and the light, so we kept the setup quite simple and let the products do most of the work.
For the Hunter product, we went in a completely different direction.
Darker tones, warmer light and a more considered set gave the image a much moodier feel.
Both products are photographed very differently, but they still feel like part of a beauty campaign rather than a standard catalogue shoot.

Keeping Things Simple
We don’t think every product needs a complicated set.
Sometimes the best setup is a simple one.
Good light.
A strong surface.
The product in the right position.
From there, it’s about making small adjustments until everything feels right.
Moving the product slightly.
Changing the angle of the light.
Adding a little water.
Taking something away.
Those small changes can make a big difference.
For this shoot, we wanted to keep that process quite hands-on and see what worked rather than trying to over-design every image before we started.

Photographing a Whole Range
anity Group has a lot of different products and brands, so it was important that we didn’t approach everything in exactly the same way.
We photographed individual products, groups and full ranges, as well as some more creative setups.
That gives the client a much more useful library of content.
A clean product image can be used on a website.
A wider group shot can introduce a range.
A more editorial image can work across social media or a campaign.
And the smaller detail shots can fill in the gaps.
It’s about creating enough variety that the images can keep being used long after the shoot.

Beauty, Hotels & The Guest Experience
What’s interesting about photographing hotel amenities is that the products are part of a bigger experience.
They’re something a guest sees, picks up and uses during their stay.
So we wanted some of the photography to feel connected to that experience rather than simply showing a bottle.
Water, texture, natural materials and softer lighting helped us bring a little more of that feeling into the images.
Nothing too forced.
Just enough to give the products some context.

Creating Images That Feel Like a Brand
For us, a good product shoot isn’t just about getting a clean photograph of every SKU.
It’s about creating images that feel like they belong to the brand.
They should be recognisable as the same shoot, while still giving each product enough room to have its own personality.
That’s what we were aiming for with Vanity Group — clean, tactile and a little more editorial.
Something that can sit comfortably across a website, social feed, campaign or hotel presentation.
