Model Shoot Guidelines

This quick guide walks you through everything you’ll need to make the shoot smooth and productive.

Before The Shoot

Step 1: Organisation

As you start planning your shoot, it’s worth considering the team you may want on board. We’re happy to recommend or connect you with trusted talents, including:

  • Makeup artists
  • Models
  • Stylists

We can also arrange an assistant to help with garment prep, steaming, or on-set support. A digital operator (DIGI) is available if needed.

Having someone there to assist throughout the day can help everything run more smoothly and take the pressure off you.

Step 2:
Mood Board

Sharing a mood board is a great way to align the creative vision with everyone involved. It helps ensure that the photographer, makeup artists, stylists, and other talents are all on the same page.

Your mood board can include:

  • Lighting and atmosphere (e.g. moody, minimal, or soft)
  • Makeup and hair styling direction
  • Posing style

Step 3:
Call Sheet

If your team is handling production, we recommend preparing a call sheet to help keep things organised and aligned. It’s a useful way to clarify your goals for the shoot and ensure everyone knows what to expect.

A typical call sheet includes:

  • Crew and talent arrival times
  • Location details (e.g. studio address, access instructions, parking info)
  • Contact details for key team members
  • A general schedule or run sheet for the day

We’re happy to assist with basic timing if needed.

Step 4: Shot List & Wardrobe / Product Check

A clear shot list helps keep the shoot focused, efficient, and on track. If you’re bringing wardrobe items or products, please ensure that everything is:

  • Clean and in good condition
  • Steamed, unpacked, or prepped as needed
  • Organised to follow the order outlined in the shot list or outfit sequence

This level of preparation helps the day run smoothly and reduces delays between setups.

Step 5: Image Requirements & Delivery

To help us prepare and deliver exactly what you need, please share the following details ahead of the shoot:

  • Where the images will be used (e.g. web, social media, print)
  • Final dimensions and aspect ratios (e.g. 4:5, 16:9, 1:1)
  • Required model views (e.g. front, side, back)
  • Excel or Google Sheet with file naming guide if needed

This helps us stay efficient on the day and ensures your files are delivered correctly and ready to use.

During The Shoot

Here’s a general breakdown of how the day typically unfolds

Note

We’ll have essentials like clamps, tape, garment steamers, and hangers available. If you have any special props or tools you’re bringing, let us know so we can assist if needed.

Preparation

Preparation typically takes 30–60 minutes and includes equipment setup, hair and makeup, wardrobe prep (e.g. steaming), and final styling adjustments. Please allow enough time for each stage to prevent delays once shooting begins.

We recommend starting the day by organising all wardrobe and accessories. Ensure each look is steamed, matched with the correct accessories, and laid out in the order of appearance. This helps the team stay aligned and supports a smooth, efficient shoot.

Styling Time

Time needed for each outfit change may vary. Please allow some flexibility in your schedule to accommodate adjustments or unexpected changes.

Shooting Time

Average time per look or setup can be discussed beforehand to help with planning and keep the shoot moving smoothly.

Real-Time Review

We provide live image previews throughout the shoot to ensure we’re aligned with your vision. A computer will be available for you to:

  • Review and mark images for selection
  • Communicate directly with the digital operator (DIGI)
  • Keep track of the shot list and ensure all required content is captured.

If there’s anything you’d like to double-check during the shoot, just let us know, we’re happy to pause and review as needed.

  • After The Shoot

    1. Image Selection (if not selected on the day)

You’ll receive preview selections shortly after the shoot. Please choose your preferred images within the agreed timeframe to avoid any delays.

You can [watch our short guide on how to select images here]. (Add hyperlink if available.)

Once your selection is confirmed, just let us know and we’ll begin post-production.

    2. Post-Production

Let us know your retouching preferences and delivery format if they haven’t already been provided. We’ll also reconfirm image sizes and usage requirements before final delivery.

Post-production turnaround is 5 working days from the time of selection for up to 100 e-commerce images.
