The Beauty Chef — Citrus-Inspired Beauty Product Photography
A little zest, a lot of yellow, and beauty photography with a twist.
We recently got creative in the studio with The Beauty Chef, shooting its Body Electric Lemonade range in a world of sunshine tones, fresh citrus and playful product styling.
The idea? Take the products beyond the usual beauty shot and create something with a little more personality. Think oversized citrus, lemonade, golden packaging and lifestyle details that feel just as considered as the products themselves.
Bright, punchy and a little unexpected, this was a shoot that let us have some fun with beauty photography while keeping the products front and centre.

A Fresh Take on Beauty Photography
Yellow was always going to be the hero here.
From the packaging to the lemons and warm, sunlit backdrop, the colour palette gave us a strong visual direction to build around. We leaned into it, keeping the styling tonal and letting the textures, shapes and little pops of citrus do their thing.
We also played with scale and perspective, creating images that sit somewhere between beauty product photography, still life and lifestyle campaign imagery.
It’s a simple idea, but that’s often where the fun begins. Take a product, find a visual angle that feels right for the brand, and see how far you can push it.

When Beauty Meets Still Life
One of our favourite parts of a shoot like this is getting to play with the details.
A glass of lemonade becomes a styling element. A slice of orange becomes part of the product itself. A canvas tote, a handful of lemons and a carefully considered arrangement bring a little more life into the frame.
Rather than treating every image as a straightforward product shot, we wanted to create a collection of visuals with their own character, while still feeling like they belonged together.
Some frames are graphic and minimal. Others lean into a more relaxed, lifestyle-inspired feel. Together, they give the range a visual identity that feels fresh, cohesive and distinctly its own.

Good Styling Is All in the Details
Creative product photography isn’t just about making something look good. It’s about finding the small details that help tell the story.
For The Beauty Chef, that meant working with the existing packaging, leaning into the citrus connection and building a visual world around the Body Electric Lemonade range.
The lighting, composition, colour and props all played a part in bringing that idea to life. Nothing needed to feel overly complicated; the strength was in keeping the direction clear and letting each element work together.
The result is imagery that feels playful without losing its polish, and commercial without feeling too conventional.

More Than Just a Product Shot
For beauty and lifestyle brands, photography is an opportunity to create a feeling around a product before someone even picks it up.
A strong hero image can catch someone’s eye, but a broader collection of campaign imagery gives a brand more to work with across its website, social media, digital marketing and product launches.
That’s always part of our thinking at Virtue Creative Studios: creating imagery that has a clear creative point of view, while still being useful for the brand beyond the shoot itself.
This one was all about sunshine yellow, fresh citrus and finding a more playful way to approach beauty product photography.
And honestly, we’ll always take an excuse to get creative with a colour palette like this.
At Virtue Creative Studios, we create beauty, skincare, still-life and commercial product photography for brands looking for imagery with personality.
Planning a product launch, beauty campaign or a fresh round of brand content? We’d love to hear what you’re working on.
